Polymorph
A multi-user navigation system for fast food restaurant managers to track their real-time quality of service.
Project Context
Background
Polymorph, a company that specializes in design consulting, brought our team on as interns to help them design a navigation system for fast food restaurants. Our job was to provide fast food restaurant managers with real-time information on their quality of service through a tablet or web interface.

Overview
Solution
We used three metrics: orders, time, and store occupancy in different parts of the store.
We created 3 interfaces with unique functionalities and info, based on responsibilities and access.
Problem
Create an interface that presents quality of service data in a way that is easily digestible by the user.
The interface must support three different users: regional managers, store managers, and IT managers.

User Personas
Based on our three different users (regional managers, store managers, and IT managers), we created a user persona for each one to help us further empathize with them.
User Journey
In order to identify pain points and unmet user needs, we created a visual representation of how our users would interact with our app. Here is a regional manager example:
User Flow Chart
We created a user flow chart in order to guide interaction design and prototyping. It also helped us identify user paths.
Design
Variations
To brainstorm, we had each team member break off to create their own version of the regional manager dashboard, allowing us to implement all of our design ideas in the final prototype.
Final Frames
After choosing our favorite frame from the variations, we applied the design to the rest of the final screens in Figma.
Reflection
Key Takeaways
This project taught us that communication is extremely important for success. Due to the remote aspect of our internship, we had team members from all over the world, which made contacting each other difficult. In order to overcome this, members had to get accustomed to bi-weekly meetings at 6 am PST, while also being active in our group chat. Once we figured this out, we made cohesive and quick progress.
One of my personal realizations was the importance of leadership in a team. At the beginning of our project, we were making minimal progress, due to weak deadlines and low motivation. Upon noticing this, I took it upon myself to assign tasks and deadlines to each of the other team members. After doing so, our productivity increased substantially and we were able to finish on time. Clear management is a must for project success.
